The former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has congratulated the MP Zarah Sultana on her ‘principled decision’ to leave the Labour Party, saying she would ‘help us to build a real alternative’.

That’s not exactly what Ms Sultana said when she talked of ‘co-leading’ a new party with Mr Corbyn.
