Former Sinn Fein leader awarded £84k in libel case against BBC

The former Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has been awarded £84,000 in damages after winning his libel case against the BBC.

He sued for defamation over a documentary and accompanying online article that alleged he sanctioned the murder of a Denis Donaldson, an MI5 informant, which he denied.

Donaldson’s daughter has called for an urgent public inquiry into her father’s killing.
