French rape survivor Gisele Pelicot says she wants memoir to be symbol of hope for others

Gisèle Pelicot, who became a global symbol of courage during the trial of her ex-husband and the dozens of men who raped her while she was unconscious, has called on other victims to never be ashamed. In her first TV interview since the trial, Pelicot said she never regretted her decision to oppose a closed-door hearing during her trial and that her book would free survivors of sexual violence from shame, which she called a ‘double sentence’
