The government has indicated that plans to bring Gatwick’s second runway into regular use will likely be approved, provided environmental conditions are met.
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander stated she is "minded to approve" the airport’s proposals, though the deadline for a final decision has been extended to the end of October.
