US president Joe Biden has dampened expectations of a ceasefire in Gaza before the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin in the coming days. Biden was visiting Rose Valley, Pennsylvania, on Friday when reporters asked him about developments in talks between Hamas and Israel, to which he responded: ‘It’s looking tough.’
Biden also expressed concern about the prospect of violence during Ramadan between Israeli authorities and Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem, the location of the third holiest site in Islam, al-Aqsa mosque
