Gaza ceasefire plan may be revived as Israeli strikes continue

A ceasefire plan for Gaza could be back on the table after Hamas said it had accepted an Egyptian proposal to release five of the remaining hostages in exchange for a 50 day truce.

Israel wants to see the return of at least 10 living hostages to resume the ceasefire.

At the same time Gaza officials said at least 19 people had been killed in Israeli airstrikes – as Palestinian Muslims observed the first day of Eid.
