Gaza famine declared by UN backed agency

The UN chief has condemned what he called the "living hell" in Gaza after a report by a UN-backed agency confirmed for the first time that there was famine in Gaza City and the surrounding area.

The report by the IPC said more than half a million people were facing "starvation, destitution and death".

Israel rejected the report, claiming it was full of "false accusations".
