Gianni Infantino’s plans to sell off the World Cup are "dead" following a number of international footballing bodies announcing a boycott – but could it lead to a full reform of FIFA?
Infantino, the president of FIFA, has defended his proposals, saying: "It’s part of a democratic process – a consultation process – and, above all, it is an opportunity but not an obligation, and, as I said, it kicks off the consultation process."
But the plans have provoked a furious reaction from across the footballing world.
Speaking to GB News’ Charlie Peters, former Chairman of FIFA’s Governance and Review Committee, Professor Miguel Poiares Maduro, said: "The plan became dead once UEFA opposed it."
