Government announces billion-pound investment to build new nuclear plant

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has confirmed a £14 billion investment to build the new Sizewell C nuclear plant in Suffolk.

Rachel Reeves promised a "new era of nuclear power" for the country – saying the new site would generate enough electricity for six million homes. However, it won’t be completed for at least a decade.
