Government announces funding to build three new prisons to end ‘cycle of crisis’ | ITV News

Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood announced a total investment of £4.7 billion to fix what she called a "cycle of crisis" in the UK’s prison system.

Funding will go towards building three new prisons and new cells in existing prisons across the country.

The government will also recommend a reduction in the length of some custodial sentences.
