Government ends hotel contract to house asylum seekers

The government is ending a contract worth £2bn a year with one of the largest providers of accommodation for asylum seekers.

The Home Office said a review had raised concerns about Stay Belvedere Hotel’s performance and behaviour – and said it was working to put "robust plans" in place to minimise disruption. The company has not yet commented.
