Government outlines plans to tackle 'national emergency' of violence against women

Violence against women and girls minister Jess Phillips has given an update to the Commons on the government’s strategy to tackle what it describes as a "national emergency."

Ms Phillips tells MPs that one in every eight women was the victim of domestic abuse, stalking or sexual assault last year.

Among measures to "stop these crimes from ever happening" are a crackdown on AI and online "nudification" tools and a £20m investment to "fundamentally change how relationship, consent, and attitudes can be embedded through education".
