The Environment Secretary has pledged to cut sewage pollution from water companies in half by 2030 compared to 2024 levels, as the government braces for the release of a landmark review into the water industry.
The pledge comes as part of ongoing Government efforts to respond to widespread public anger over record sewage spills and rising bills, against a backdrop of poor governance at debt-ridden water firms.
