The Home Office will appeal the High Court’s refusal to allow it to intervene in the case of a hotel used to house asylum seekers in Epping, but says it remains committed to ultimately closing the hotel.
If the government’s appeal is successful, it would pave the way for a wider appeal against a temporary injunction blocking the Home Office from using the Bell Hotel as asylum accommodation.
It has been the focus of anti-migration protests across the country, with more expected this evening and over the weekend.
