Ahead of the opening of a brand new prison, the justice secretary has told Sky News that she can’t rule out the release of violent inmates to ease the prison population.
HMP Millsike in Yorkshire can hold around 1,500 prisoners but there is still a long way to go to create the extra 14,000 thousand extra places needed by 2031.
