Grandparents found guilty of murdering two-year-old grandson | ITV News

A couple have been found guilty of murdering their two-year-old grandson.

Ethan Ives-Griffiths died from a catastrophic brain injury, two days after he collapsed in the living room at the home of his grandparents Michael and Kerry Ives, in Flintshire in North Wales.

A trial at Mold Crown Court, lasting more than five weeks, heard the boy was severely underweight and dehydrated when he died, with 40 visible marks on his body.

The pair stared straight ahead as the verdict was read out after nearly seven hours of deliberations. In addition to murder they were also found guilty of child cruelty.

Ethan’s mother Shannon Ives, who was living with her parents at the time, was found guilty of causing or allowing his death and child cruelty.
