A domestic abuse survivor who attempted to take her own life after suffering years of violence says a new protection order trial has saved her life.
Anne, whose identity has been protected, was subjected to four years of abuse from her former partner Michael Mitchell.
But, after police responded to more than 20 incidents involving Michael and Anne, he was handed a Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO) as part of a pilot running in Bury, Wigan and Manchester.
The orders can be granted for any length of time, and if an abuser breaches their DAPO, they could face up to five years in prison.
