Grooming gang inquiry: Possible chair pulls out over political 'point scoring'

The setting up of a National Inquiry into grooming gangs has further knocked off course with the announcement that Jim Gamble, the former police officer believed to be the last person under consideration to chair it, has now withdrawn from the process.

He said his decision was partially due to "the highly charged and toxic environment that has surrounded the appointment process."

His departure follows the resignation of two more people from the inquiry’s victims and survivors panel.
