Guinness World Records has been looking back in time as it celebrated its 70th anniversary on Wednesday.
The first book, then titled The Guinness Book of Records, was published on August 27 1955 and sparked worldwide curiosity.
The inspiration for the book came from Sir Hugh Beaver, the then-managing director of the Guinness Brewery, after a debate over which was the fastest game bird in Europe, but he failed to find an answer.
