Ghadi Karmi, from the Institute of Arab and Islamic studies at the University of Exeter, joined Sky News on the anniversary of the 7 October Hamas attacks on Israel.
Ms Karmi said, "the last year has taken my breath away – I never thought I’d see such monstrous, cruelty and slaughter of Palestinian civilians.
"This sort of level of destructiveness and inhumanity is something no one can excuse or justify by what happened during the October 7th Hamas attacks."
