Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has appointed Heidi Alexander as the new transport secretary following Louise Haigh’s resignation.
The MP for Swindon South has been serving as justice minister, and she previously worked as Sadiq Khan’s deputy mayor for transport from 2018 to 2021.
Ms Haigh resigned following a Sky News investigation which revealed she pleaded guilty after incorrectly telling police that a work mobile phone was stolen in 2013.
