Hillsborough: Report finds police guilty of 'deep complacency' and 'fundamental failure'

Hillsborough remains to this day the worst disaster in British sporting history.

A crush on the terraces during the FA Cup semi-final at the stadium in Sheffield resulted in the death of 97 Liverpool fans on April 15, 1989.

Thirteen years since it started its investigation, the police watchdog has found twelve officers would have faced gross misconduct investigations after a series of failings by police before, during and after the disaster, the IOPC says.

However, as no one will be held to account, the report is a "bitter injustice" for bereaved relatives.
