A ceremony has been held in Hiroshima marking 80 years since an atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese city during World War 2.
Wreaths were laid, and a silent prayer held at 8:15 – the moment a US aircraft released the bomb which is estimated to have killed 140,000 people.
Japan surrendered shortly after a second atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki days later.
