Watch images filmed in Belfast on Tuesday night of disorder and rioting in parts of the city.
Northern Ireland’s First Minister Michelle O’Neill has condemned the “outright thuggery” as rioters took to the streets in response to a knife attack.
Anti-immigration protesters have set fire to a bus in the city and firefighters had to remove residents from their homes in another street after flames spread to properties.
A group of masked males set commercial bins alight and pushed them into the Glider bus on the Newtownards Road in the east of the city on Tuesday evening.
Their actions have been condemned by both O’Neill, the Sinn Féin First Minister and Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly, of the DUP.
The unrest appeared to be triggered by a stabbing in the city on Monday night.
The attack in the Kinnaird Avenue area left a man in his 40s with “significant injuries to his eyes”.
Hadi Alodid has been remanded in custody at Belfast Magistrates’ Court for four weeks after being charged with the attempted stabbing murder of Stephen Ogilvie, threats to kill an NHS radiographer and possession of a knife.
