Today, the Government made a major U-turn, scrapping plans to give AI firms a ‘free pass’ to use the work of authors, musicians, and filmmakers without consent. Ministers say they’ve listened to the creative sector.
But for those whose life’s work is already inside the machine, this is a hollow victory. They warn of a ‘digital Wild West’ where it’s not clear whether their material has already been used by AI firms.
