How extremists planning terror attack on Manchester's Jewish community were stopped

Extremists who planned to target Manchester’s Jewish community in what police said could have been one of the "deadliest" terror attacks in UK history have been jailed for decades.

Walid Saadaoui, 38, and Amar Hussein, 52, were found guilty by a jury at Preston Crown Court in December and have been sentenced to 37 and 26 years respectively over the plot, which was foiled by an undercover police operation.

Greater Manchester Police said the gun attack planned by Saadaoui and Hussein, who were inspired by the Islamic State terror group, would have been "catastrophic".
