Thousands of jobs are thought to have been lost, and many factories have closed in a city that once boasted that it "clothed the world".
The collapse has been partly triggered by revelations about the poor treatment of the mainly female workforce in the textile and fashion sector.
But also the arrival of competition from Chinese companies like Shein and Temu – and a trade deal with India – has now added to the existential crisis facing both the fashion industry in Leicester, and across the UK.
