How the hostage-prisoner swap is likely to happen | DW News

If approved by the Israeli cabinet, a ceasefire would immediately go into effect, with Israeli troops having 24 hours to withdraw to an agreed line.

At the same time, Israel would allow hundreds of aid trucks into Gaza.
Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that governs Gaza, would then have 72 hours to release the remaining living hostages. But returning the remains of dead hostages may take longer, as Hamas says it does not know where all the victims are.
