How tough new orders let police crack down on domestic abusers without court appearances | ITV News

Greater Manchester police are trialing Domestic Abuse Protection Orders (DAPOs) to protect victims without requiring court involvement.

These orders, available to police, victims, or third parties, can last indefinitely. Violating an order can lead to up to five years in prison.

The initiative, part of a Home Office pilot, aims to offer stronger safeguards for victims and intervene earlier in domestic abuse cases.
