How US President Trump is changing civilians‘ relationship with the US military | DW News

The US army is marking it’s 250th anniversary with a grand military parade in Washington D.C on Saturday. The parade is expected to be unlike any in recent memory and to reflect President Trump’s long-standing desire to showcase American military might on a national stage. It’s also the President’s 79th birthday.
Supporters argue it’s a well-deserved tribute to service members and military heritage. But critics, including lawmakers from both parties, have raised alarms about the cost, the political optics, and what they see as a departure from traditional civilian-military norms.
