Huge delays as new EU fingerprint border checks come into force

New rules governing travel to and from EU countries were supposed to come into force today.

A biometric system of fingerprints and face scans is replacing manually stamping non-EU passports.

The idea is to speed up border checks in places like airports — but technical glitches in the roll-out are causing queues and delays.
