A LNER rail staff member remains in a life threatening condition following a stabbing attack onboard a Doncaster to London train yesterday evening.
British Transport police say the guard tried to stop the knife attacker and have described his actions as ‘nothing short of heroic’. The driver of the train, who diverted the service to Huntingdon, told ITV News he was ‘only doing his job’ and praised his colleague for stepping in.
A 32 year old man from Peterborough remains in police custody on suspicion of attempted murder. He is now being treated as the only suspect after another man – who was also arrested at the scene – was released with no further action.
Police are not treating the incident as terror-related.
