Communities Secretary Steve Reed told Sky News that "I felt like I’d been punched in the stomach" by the Mandelson revelations.
Defending Sir Keir Starmer’s decision to appoint Peter Mandelson as UK ambassador to the US, Reed says Lord Mandelson lied about the extent of his relationship with the paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Pushed by Sophy Ridge that the prime minister knew about the pair’s friendship, Reed says: "He didn’t because Peter Mandelson lied and the extent of that lying."
He adds that Mandelson "conned everybody".
