An immigration officer fired seven rounds while arresting the 28-year-old man, who has had two prior arrests in New York City, according to the Police Department. He survived the shooting and is being treated for injuries.
Six people have been killed by federal immigration agents since President Trump returned to office, four of them in vehicle stops.
The Department of Homeland Security say the shooting happened during a ‘targeted enforcement operation’.
