Iceland volcano spews out red-hot lava

A volcano in southwestern Iceland erupted on Thursday night, prompting the surrounding area to be evacuated.

Footage shows glowing hot lava shooting up from the ground against the night sky. The country’s ministry for foreign affairs said the eruption did not present a threat to life. Iceland is home to more than 30 active volcanoes, making it a prime destination for volcano tourism.
