The authorities in India say that they have demolished houses belonging to two suspected militants in response to Tuesday’s attack in Indian-run Kashmir.

There are also reports that troops have exchanged fire along the Line of Control that divides Indian and Pakistani Kashmir as tensions escalate following the shooting in a meadow in the Pahalgam area that left 26 Indian men dead.
India has said there were Pakistani elements in Tuesday’s attack and the nuclear-armed nations have unleashed a raft of measures against each other, with Pakistan closing its airspace to Indian airlines.
