Indians jump at chance to work in Israel despite war | DW News

Thousands in India rushed to sign up to work in Israel. Despite the conflict between Israel and Hamas the recruitment center was packed with people willing to work in a warzone. Most are driven by the high unemployment rate in India where 42% of university graduates under 25 are jobless.
Israel barred entry to Palestinians after Hamas’ October 7 terror attack creating a deficit of nurses and construction workers. Last year Israel and India agreed to allow 40,000 Indians to work in these fields. They could earn up to five times more.
