India has threatened to stop the flow of the Indus River, which flows on to Pakistan, following recent fighting in and around the disputed Kashmir region. The threat caused panic and anger in Pakistan, which is highly dependent on this water for its drinking supply and agriculture. For decades, a unique treaty ensured.
