The Communications Minister said children face ‘real threats from exposure to pornography, cyberbullying, online fraud and addiction.’ And they will start ‘de-activating’ accounts from the end of March.
It means under 16s will no longer be able to have accounts on what Indonesia are calling ‘high-risk’ platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, X and YouTube.
The Communications minister said that ‘the government is stepping in so that parents no longer have to fight alone against the giants of the algorithm.’
