A man who spent almost 40 years in jail for murder has had his conviction quashed in what is now believed to be longest miscarriage of justice involving a living prisoner in British history.

Peter Sullivan was jailed for the killing of Diane Sindall in Birkenhead in 1986.
New DNA evidence pointed to an unknown attacker being involved in the murder, and Sullivan, who is now 68-years-old, will be released.
