The Cranston Inquiry begins into the deaths of 27 people as they attempted to cross the Channel in November 2021 – the deadliest night of small-boat crossings.
The inquiry aims to establish the identities of those who died and how, as well as what lessons can be learned and how to reduce the risk of similar events.
Today we’ll hear opening statements from the counsel to the inquiry.
