Schools in the UK say they are having to take it upon themselves to bring in American-style lockdown drills in response to rising youth violence.
In the latest of a series of reports into how violence is impacting young people, ITV News has been given exclusive access to a classroom lockdown rehearsal.
Archbishop Ilsley Catholic School in Acocks Green, Birmingham allowed cameras in to film the practice, which is becoming widespread nationally.
It sees children hide under desks, lock windows and barricade doors in the event of intruders or serious incidents like weapons being reported in school.
