Hurricane Katrina, one of the most powerful to ever hit the United States, ripped through the historic city and left entire neighbourhoods underwater.
In some ways, it never recovered. It remains a city besieged by major economic and social problems.
ITV News Correspondent Robert Moore and former New Orleans resident Suzette Walker, who was filmed being rescued from her own roof by a helicopter, spoke to ITV News about their memories of the ‘apocalyptic’ storm.
