Police forces say they’re spending too much time with people in crisis who’d be better off being cared for by mental health professionals.
That led Humberside Police to develop a scheme called Right Care Right Person, which triages calls to the appropriate services.
The government wants to roll it out nationwide – but mental health charities are worried there aren’t enough guarantees it would be operated safely.
