Interest rate held at 4.5%

The Bank of England has maintained the interest rate at 4.5%, as Governor Andrew Bailey says there is ‘intensified’ uncertainty around economic and global trade.

The central bank is still hoping to bring inflation down to a target of 2% but warns it could rise to 3.75% this autumn.
