Iranian missiles have hit a hospital in Israel with officials reporting "extensive damage."
Another missile hit a high-rise building and several other residential buildings in at least two sites near Tel Aviv. At least 40 people were wounded in the attacks, according to Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue service.
Meanwhile Israel attacked Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor, Iranian state television said on Thursday.
Iran reported there was “no radiation danger whatsoever" and that the facility had been already evacuated before the attack.
The Soroka Medical Centre is the main hospital in Israel’s south.
A spokesperson for the hospital said it suffered "extensive damage" in different areas and people had been wounded in the attack. The hospital has requested people not come for treatment.
Following Thursday’s attack, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz appeared to up the rhetoric regarding the ongoing violence and Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
"A dictator like Khamenei, who heads a country like Iran and has made the destruction of Israel his mission, cannot continue to exist," Katz said.
"The IDF has been instructed and knows that in order to achieve all of its goals, this man absolutely should not continue to exist."
US officials said earlier this week that President Trump had vetoed a plan to assassinate Khamenei but later told reporters there were no plans to kill him, "at least not for now."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the strike on the hospital and vowed a response, saying: "We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran."
Iran claims it was targeting a military site next to Soroka Hospital which was accurately hit, causing damage to the hospital in the blast wave.
Soroka hospital has over 1,000 beds and provides services to the approximately 1 million residents of Israel’s south, according to the hospital’s website.
Many hospitals in Israel activated emergency plans in the past week, converting underground parking to hospital floors and move patients underground, especially those who are on ventilators or are difficult to move quickly.
