As tensions escalate between the US and Iran, experts in China say that any US ground invasion onto Iranian soil may in fact benefit China, pulling US military resources out of the Indo-Pacific and away from Taiwan – which China has long claimed is a part of its territory.

But, while other countries in the region have called for nuclear talks to resume, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and pro-democracy activist Shirin Ebadi told Channel 4 News that she would be in favour of targeted military strikes against the regime, in response to the brutal massacre of protesters.
