Time is running out to reach a climate change agreement at the UN Climate Conference. In the final hours of the summit, Colombia and the Netherlands are pushing for a phaseout of fossil fuels. These heated negotiations follow a new draft proposal presented by the summit president, Brazil, which did not mention fossil fuels. Brazil had supported a phaseout, but it was removed from the text under pressure from a group of mainly oil-producing countries. A phaseout was a key demand of some of the countries most affected by climate change.
