After a tumultuous Monday in Westminster, facing the resignations of some of his closest allies and continuing to weather the scandal of Peter Mandelson’s links to Jeffrey Epstein, things turned from bad to worse for the prime minister: Anas Sarwar, the leader of Scottish Labour, called a surprise press conference in which he said Starmer should resign.
However, this appears to have galvanised Starmer’s cabinet, leading to words of support from across the Labour party including from his prospective leadership rivals Angela Rayner and Wes Streeting.
