The Indian government has vowed to bring those behind yesterday’s attack on tourists in Indian administered Kashmir to justice. A little known group claimed responsibility for killing 26 people in the attack. India indicated it holds Pakistan partially responsible – expelling diplomats and closing the main border crossing.

Kashmir, which has a muslim majority, is divided into areas administered by India and Pakistan. The peace of recent years had seen tourists return to the region’s mountains and valleys.
But yesterday’s massacre in Pahalgam was the most deadly attack on civilians in nearly two decades.
